•LET’S DANCE—SANGER All ages are welcome to come learn 5 Latin dances in one hour plus hip hop! 3:30-4:30 p.m. No partners or experience necessary just a willingness to have fun. Playhouse Disney Live tonight at 7:00pm
•CARUTHERS FAIR Fair time starts today and continues through September 27. This is a free gate fair with exhibits, good food, entertainment, livestock and carnival all for families to enjoy! 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Caruthers Fairgrounds. 288-2587 or 864-3768.
•PAINT A POT Teens bring your friends, have fun and show how creative you can be when you decorate a pot with paint! FREE 3-4 p.m. Politi Branch Library, 5771 N. First St., Fresno. 4331-6450.
•TODDLER TIME WEDNESDAYS Ages 1-4 join storyteller Annalissa as she reads stories at 10 a.m. Coloring and a snack follow the stories. FREE at Barnes & Noble, 7849 N. Blackstone Ave., Fresno. 437-0492.

Opportunity for the "Her" Family to win a HP Laptop

We just found out about a great opportunity for the "Her" family. As you know we at CVA are collecting items for them. To recap you the "Her" family lost their mother and their father is in critical condition due to a drunk driver. The family has 11 children ages ranging from 4-29 and a grandmother of 95. We have been collecting items for about one week now and we want to thank everyone who has donated. We appreciate all your generosity. The youngest is 4 years old and he is a boy, the next ages of the children start at 16 and go to 29 boys and girls. Keep the donations coming. We will be at Red Bank in Clovis, California again on Saturday from 9:00-10:00am collecting donations.
Wow, they could really use a lap top at their house to help them with school. We know that one of the older girls has quit her job to help raise and support the family. There are some great ladies out there in the blog sphere land and they are known as the Twin Mommy Bloggers. They can be found at 5 minutes for mom. They have asked HP to help out a needy family and they are giving away a HP Laptop. We know the "Her" family could use this and how surprised they would be. CVA adds a new site to their favorites

Hey Central Valley we found a great site for you on Twisted Tuesday. Go to Kaboom and click on the Playspace Finder. There, you can enter your city and state or zip code to locate a playground that suits your age group, field, skate park, or ice rink near you. We love this site! While browsing this site we discovered that there are no Fresno or Clovis parks listed. Please log on and add your favorites. We need to represent Fresno and Clovis and any other Central Valley City. Check it out and leave your comments here. CVA always wants to hear from you.

To Peel or not to peel!!

Hey Central Valley-We just wanted to clear up confusion today on Mega Monday. What fruits and vegetables to you peel before you eat them? Do you know, do you know? Here is what we discovered at CVA...
Apple don't peel. An apple with its peel provides almost twice as much fiber, 50 percent more vitamin A, and 25 percent more potassium as one without it. Make sure you wash it very well.
Cucumber peel. Most of the cucumber's fiber comes from the seeds, and you won't lose too much potassium, either.
Carrot peel. The texture of unpeeled carrots can be a turnoff, and peeling won't cost you much potassium, vitamin A, or fiber.
Peach don't peel. The flesh and the skin are packed with vitamins A and C, potassium, and fiber. If you don't like the fuzz go for a nectarine instead.

"Her" Family Donations

We will be at Red Bank Elementary this Saturday, August 9, 2008 from 9:00am to 12:00pm collecting donations for the "Her" Family. Red Bank is located on San Jose and Locan in Clovis. Bring food, clothing, hygiene items, books, toys for a 4 year old boy, furniture, and everything else. We will take new or used items. We look forward to meeting everyone out there!
